Crates Marina in Belleville, ON (Limerick Lake)
Day #373: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARK!! Mike and I were up at 6:30 A.M. awoke by the sounds of birds singing in the pine trees outside the sliding glass doors of our bedroom. Ed and Kyle made breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon. A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect until 10:30 P.M. There were a few sprinkles and there was a line of thunderstorms that broke apart before getting to Limerick Lake. At 1:00 P.M. Kyle suggested taking a boat ride to St. Ola as this was the one place that the four of us had not taken the boat on Tuesday. We hopped in the boat riding to the dam and dock at St. Ola where there were numerous boat houses and one building that used to be the mill. The sky was getting darker with the sound of faint thunder in the background, As the four of us were half-way back to the cottage it started to rain and thunder could be heard a bit closer. We got back to the dock and Kyle got the boat covered. As all of us headed into the cottage the sky let loose, wind started to blow and thunderstorm moved in. Ed and Kyle made lunch of sandwiches, cheese, chips, humus and pears. After lunch the thunderstorm had moved through the skies were still cloudy but the sun tried to come out. Ed and Kyle shared information about some of the towns that they had visited on the Trent-Severn Waterway letting Mike and I know of places that they suggested that we should stop. During the afternoon Ed worked on supper of smoked pork loin. At 5:30 P.M. the sun did try to come back out but there was still a Thunderstorm Watch in affect until late evening. The four of us sat out on the dock enjoying the beautiful weather. A racoon walked along the dock not paying any attention to us on the dock. At 7:00 P.M. it was time for pulled pork, coleslaw and biscuits for dinner. During dinner mom racoon and baby racoon decided to take up residence near Ed and Kyle's fresh water spring. When the baby racoon wasn't happy the four of us could hear it calling out for mom racoon. At 8:00 P.M. it was time for Kawartha Ice Cream for dessert. Mike and I will be going by the Kawartha ice cream factory when get to Bobcaygen on the Trent Severn Waterway. Ed and Kyle have already told Mike and I that we need to stop and get an ice cream cone. At 10:00 P.M. time for bed.
