Peterborough Marina in Peterborough, ON
Day #383: Happy Birthday to Patty Boynton Sr. (Mike's Mom). Mike and I were up at 6:15 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit, cookies and local news (the only local news station was out of Buffalo, New York). The two of us worked on paperwork blogging and condo association. Mike and I walked to TSW Lock 21 Peterborough Lift Lock to view the lock before going through Monday morning. The Peterborough Lift Lock opened on July 9, 1904 with a rebuild in the 1980's. The lock is the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world. Mike and I were able to see "Sea's Today", "Knights Kingdom", "Carolina Dream", "Just Jill'in" and two looper couples in kayaks Jax/Russ ("Cat-N-Dogs") and John/Martha ("As You Wish") raise up in the lift lock. We were very glad that we had walked to the lock as I was able to take pictures today versus Monday when it is very busy getting "Parrot Bay" into the lock. Mike was able to see what it is going to be like to get "Parrot Bay" into the lock. After the boats and kayaks exited the lock Mike and I walked through the visitor center before heading back to the marina. After lunch the two of us headed up on the flying bridge where the breeze and mid-70's temperature was delightful for reading. For happy hour Mike made popcorn. All afternoon there was very loud music on "C" dock at the marina the local boaters drinking and having a good time. At 5:00 P.M. it was karaoke time on the dock (it left Mike and I wishing that they would just let the music play as the singing left a bit to be desired ). Mike and I started to prepare for Monday with the plan being 8 locks (including the Peterborough lift lock) and Islandview Marina in Young's Point.

On our way to the trail to the lock Mike and I had to cross over this railroad bridge.
