Day #347: Mike and I were up at 6:00 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit and sticky buns. The winds are starting to ramp up as predicated but sunny and temperatures in the high 60's. "Kalani" and "Alysana" decided to stay at Utsch's Marina until Monday but "INNTW" left this morning early before the wind picked up. Mike worked on navigation planning as we need to have multiple plans to get up the New Jersey coast. There is no choice but to go outside from Cape May, NJ to Atlantic City, NJ as the intercoastal waterway is to shallow. From Atlantic City, NJ there are two choices, the New Jersey Intercoastal Waterway or go outside into the ocean. The hope is that we will be able to go outside for both crossings getting us up to Staten Island on Tuesday and New York Harbor (Hudson River) on Wednesday. There was some bad news today regarding the closure of locks 1 & 2 on the Oswego Canal which could mean that "Parrot Bay" will not be able to transit Canada. I made reservations at Farley's State Marina at Golden Nugget Casino & Hotel for Monday night and Great Kills Yacht Club on Staten Island, NY. Luckily Bev from "Baytripper" had mentioned on the phone last evening that I needed to talk to John at Great Kills Yacht Club that he handles the loopers that are going to that marina. It took me three phone calls to finally get John's cell phone number but I did it getting in touch with him (who was driving at the time) to make the reservation. Due to him driving I had to text him the information about "Parrot Bay" but in the end "Parrot Bay" has a reservation on Staten Island for Tuesday-WHEW! I then went on Dockwa to reserve a night at Half Moon Bay in New York for Wednesday night. At 12:00 P.M. Mike and I headed to Lucky Bones Blackwater Grille which is across the street from the marina for lunch. Mike had pizza and I had a Mahi Mahi sandwich. The two of us headed back to the boat I did two loads of laundry catching up before "Parrot Bay" started traveling multiple days in a row. Mike set up a Captain's Meeting/Docktails for Sunday at 5:00 P.M. to discuss the plans for Monday mornings travel to Atlantic City. The winds picked up sustained in the mid-20's with gust in the 30's mile per hour range but the sun was shining. The two of us sat on the well deck reading books. At 6:15 P.M. it was time for more reading and blogging.
