Half Moon Bay Marina in Croton-On-Hudson, New York to Hudson Maritime Museum Marina in Kingston, NY

Day #352: Mike and I were up at 5:00 A.M. to prepare for departure. Engines were started at 5:40 A.M. At 5:45 A.M. "Parrot Bay" was underway with high level fog/haze/low clouds with a light drizzle. At 6:35 A.M. "Parrot Bay" passed the fire boat "John D. McLean". At 7:30 A.M. "Ruby M" tug/barge passed "Parrot Bay". At 7:50 A.M. "Parrot Bay" passed Highland Falls on the left bank. The scenery down the Hudson River was a combination of rock/trees with small towns/marina on the waterfront. At 8:00 A.M. "Parrot Bay" passed West Point Academy. "Parrot Bay" passed Bannerman's Castel on Pollepel Island. At 9:20 A.M. "Parrot Bay" passed under the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. At 11:00 A.M. "Parrot Bay" passed under the Mid-Huron Suspension Bridge and Poughkeepsie Railroad Walking Bridge. "Parrot Bay" passed The Culinary Institute of America. At 12:20 P.M. "Parrot Bay" passed the Esopus Meadows Light. At 12:28 P.M. the tug/barge "CMT Pike" passed the "Parrot Bay". At 1:00 P.M. "Parrot Bay" was secure on the wall at the Kingston Maritime Museum after traveling 56.8 miles (4,296.5 miles total for the trip). The two of us headed to the Hudson River Maritime Museum which is part of the marina. We learned about the Hudson River and Erie Canal. After the two of us headed to the Ole Savannah Southern Table & Bar Restaurant for an early dinner where Mike had Jambolaya and I had fish and chips. We headed back to the boat to have happy hour on the well deck. "Lazy Looper" pulled in ahead of "Parrot Bay" on the dock. "Lazy Looper" is taking 3 years to do the loop. In the middle of happy hour Mike and I actually had sun and warm temperatures. At 7:00 A.M. Mike headed down in the engine room while I started the blog the rain started to fall. The winds are suppose to increase so we will be moving 1 mile to the Kingston City Marina for the night as the Hudson River Maritime Museum Marina couldn't accommodate "Parrot Bay" Friday night as they are having a wooden boat show this weekend.

NEBO trip from Croton-On-Hudson, NY to Kingston, NY

Mike and I have this tug "Mathida"  as a view from the "Parrot Bay".

As part of their dockage Mike and I were able to go into the Hudson River Maritime Museum.

Children frequently drove the mules and horses that pulled canal boats in the 19th century were called "hoagies".

The museum had a large display of the iceboats on the Hudson. For almost two hundred years, ice boats have been sailing the frozen Hudson for sport and pleasure. The attraction of iceboating for sportsman was speed. An iceboat, because of the lack of friction between it and the ice, can travel at more than twice the speed of the wind.

The museum had a iceboat display.

Mike having some fun at the Hudson River Maritime Museum.

Next door to the museum is the Riverport Wooden Boat School. There is a wood boat show this                                                               weekend in Kingston.

The dockmaster suggested this restaurant to Mike for early dinner. The restaurant is just down from the marina.

Ole Savannah Restaurant is a BBQ & Cajun-style in a waterfront warehouse.
