Chesapeake Inn Restaurant and Marina in Chesapeake City, Maryland to Summit North Marina in Bear, Delaware
Day #340: Mike and I were up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit, cinnamon roll and lemon bread while watching the local weather. At 9:00 A.M. Mike called Summit North Marina to see if they would be ready for us as we could be there by 10:00 A.M. Mike was told that the slip was open and he was given docking instructions. It was a beautiful day sunny and temperatures in the mid-70s at departure. "Parrot Bay" was underway at 9:00 A.M. At 9:16 A.M. "Parrot Bay" crossed the Maryland and Delaware state line. The Summit North Marina is massive with 400 slips. At 10:00 A.M. "Parrot Bay" was secure in a slip after traveling 6.1 miles, the shortest travel day of our entire looping trip. (3,977.3 miles for the trip). Mike and I checked in at the marina office. The two of us of then took a walk on the Michael Castle Trail which is a scenic 12 mile paved route along the north shore of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal in northern Delaware. The only diversion from the canal's edge is a brief arc around the Summit North Marina. So Mike and I walked from the marina out to the C & D Canal Lift Bridge. After our walk we met Jeff from "Breakway II" he and his wife are looping as well. Mike and I walked up to the Grain H2O Restaurant which is on the marina grounds to have a late lunch. The two of us had a great meal. After lunch the we headed back to the boat for happy hour on the flying bridge where there was a cool breeze. At 6:00 P.M. the we walked over to meet "Daddy's Dream" Jim and Cathy (their niece and great-nephew who have joined them on the boat) the group shared information about the trip. Mike and I very much enjoyed our visit. The two of us headed back to the boat for reading and blogging.
