Trip Home to Michigan

Day #315: From last evening Mike beat me at cribbage. Mike and I were up at 5:00 A.M. to prepare for departure for a trip home to Michigan. The two of us left Homer-Smith Marina in North Carolina at 5:50 A.M. in the rental car.  We enjoyed cherry and blueberry pastries that we had bought at the bakery in Beaufort yesterday. At 11:30 A.M. it was Burger King for lunch. At 11:50 A.M. Mike and I finally left North Carolina heading into Virginia followed by West Virginia. At 3:30 P.M.  we entered Ohio. I made reservations at a Holiday Inn in Athens, OH. The two stopped driving at 4:15 P.M. as we arrived at the Holiday Inn. The two of us were treated to an upgrade to a suite (Whoo Hoo!). After getting our luggage into the suite we headed to Applebee's Restaurant that is located across the Holiday Inn parking lot. Since we are staying at the Holiday Inn we were given 10% off of their bill (Whoo Hoo!). Next to the Applebee's was a Verizon Store so the two of us were able to buy a few items that we needed which was great as it was one less stop that the two of us needed to make when we are home. Mike and I headed up to our hotel room to read and blog. The two of us are planning on leaving early again in the morning to get home.
