Athens, Ohio to Beaufort, North Carolina (Trip Home to Michigan):

Day #321: Mike and I were up at 5:30 A.M. to prepare for departure from the Holiday Inn Express in Athens, Ohio. The two of us left at 6:00 A.M. heading back to the boat in Beaufort, North Carolina. Finally at 4:00 P.M. Mike and I arrived at Homer-Smith Marina. The weather was sunny, 81 degrees and breezy. It took three cart loads to empty out the Dodge Charger. At 5:15 P.M. most of the gear had been stowed so the two of us headed up to the flying bridge where it was nice and breezy to have happy hour. After happy hour Mike completed his Sunday night phone calls to Amanda and Mom/Dad Boynton. It was then time for reading and blogging.

Mike and I heading out of the Big Walker Mountain Tunnel.

Runaway truck ramp which enables vehicles which are having braking problems to safely stop. It is typically a long, sand or gravel-filled lane connected to a steep downhill grade section of a main road, and is designed to accommodate large trucks or buses. The ramp allows a moving vehicle's kinetic energy to be dissipated gradually in a controlled and relatively harmless way, helping the operator to stop it safely without a violet crash.

Another example of a runaway truck ramp.

North Carolina along the highway has beautiful flowers this is one example.

91 degrees in North Carolina luckily it was 81 degrees closer the water when Mike and Patty got to Beaufort, N.C.

Seriously!!!!!
