Trip Home to Michigan to Athens, Ohio
Day #320: Mike and I were up at 6:00 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit, rhubarb bars (Thanks Audrey) and local news. Mike and I prepared for church. Mike finished putting the gear into the Dodge Charger. Mike and I headed to Hemlock, MI to St. Peter Lutheran Church. Church started at 10:30 A.M. were Maria had her first communion and confirmation. At 12:30 P.M. the family headed to Sullivan's Restaurant in Saginaw Township to have lunch for Maria's confirmation followed by cake and cookies. At 2:00 P.M. Mike and I changed out of our church clothes and said their "goodbyes" before heading out. Of course at the time when we were going to head out it was raining so hard that Mike got soaked getting the car. The two of us got underway and the rain continued but it was light to moderate which made the drive comfortable. At 4:15 P.M. Mike and I crossed into Ohio. At 5:00 P.M. I made reservations at the Holiday Inn Express in Athens, Ohio. The two of us arrived at the hotel at 8:00 P.M. getting all of our bags into the hotel before the rain started again. Mike and I will have a 9 1/2 hour ride (including breaks) to get back to Homer-Smith Marina in Beaufort, N.C.
