Green Turtle Bay Resort in Grand Rivers, KY

Day #96: We are monitoring Tropical Storm Michael. At this time we believe that we will not be impacted directly by the storm.  Up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, gingersnaps/maple cookies and grapefruit. Mike and I walked into the town of Grand Rivers which is just over a one mile from the marina. We walked the small town finding the post office and grocery store. We headed back to the marina where I found Bev feeding the turtles. The fish were very aggressive eating the food before the turtles could get to it. Before we were done there were about 20 turtles waiting to be fed. Bruce/Bev and Mike/I put the dinghies in the water. We traveled 7.1 miles in the dinghy. We were able to check out Green Turtle Bay and the canal that we will take when we leave here on Friday. The four of us headed to the outdoor pool. It was sunny, humid and 90 degrees today. Mike and I headed over to "Baytripper" for happy hour. At 5:10 P.M. Mike and I headed back the boat for dinner of cold sandwiches. Bruce and Bev headed to "The Thirsty Turtle" for game night. Mike and I decided to stay back to make our Sunday night phone calls.
Patti's 1880's Settlement, a recreated historical log cabin village tucked into the natural beauty of West Kentucky. There used to be a restaurant at this site but it burned February 5, 2018. They are currently rebuilding.

Very nice grocery store in Grand Rivers. The owner of Green
Turtle Bay Marina also owns the grocery store in town.

The boat that was in the movie "The River Rat".

1984 movie The River Rat  Somehow we missed that one, but the evidence is here in town.

This is the sign that is still up at "Patti's 1880' Settlement".

Patti's annex and conference room.

Large sign from the road welcoming you to Green Turtle Bay.

Green Turtle Bay is huge.

This is how Mike and I are feeling right now!!!

Turtles and fish fighting over Bev's turtle food.

Bruce and Bev in their dinghy heading out of the marina.

Beautiful condo building that you see when entering Green Turtle Bay via the water.

Bruce and Bev with the "Cumberland Hunter" in the background. The tow was parked just outside of the Green Turtle Bay entrance.

We decided to go and see what the canal looks like that we will be traveling to the Tennessee River. This tow was coming at us it was full of military vehicles.

The two of military vehicles was being pushed by two tugs which is
something that we have not seen yet on the rivers. The two tugs
were "Rivers Wilson" and "River Titan".

Bruce and Bev enjoying their dinghy.

Mike and I enjoying our dinghy. This is the first time that we have had the dinghy in the water since Racine, WI.

Great view of the Barkley Lock.

The Thirsty Turtle from the water.

Blue Heron sitting on the dinghy dock at The Thirsty Turtle.

We saw this deer on the shore.

As the doe started to move we thought that we had seen movement next to her there were two fawns sitting in the brush. I was able to catch one's picture.
