Reef Point Marina in Racine, WI

Day #48: Happy Birthday to Tony our son-in-law. Up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit and banana bread. At 8:15 A.M. we headed up to the marina's store Reef Point Marina Anchors Away Ship Store to further check out what supplies that they have since we are going to be here for 10 days. We checked out out the laundry room and boater's lounge as well. As we were headed for our walk we ran into Carey and Nancy from "Tug LeeLoo" (the Harbor Hosts who stopped by to see us yesterday). They were going to go for a walk as well so they asked if we minded walking with them. We had a great time walking and talking about the Loop we shared information and experiences. They took us on a walk down by the shore of Lake Michigan which was a beautiful walk. They took us downtown letting us know about stores and restaurants that we might be interested in visiting while we were here in Racine. They took us on a tour of their boat which is a beautiful 37' Nordic Tug. Carey and Nancy are what we call "all in" which means that they have sold their home on land, they live on their boat, have their possessions and a car. Mike and I had a great time. Carey and Nancy are very easy to talk to and are so positive about their experiences when they were Looping. In the afternoon we had happy hour on the flying bridge until the rain started making us move into the cabin. Mike and I played 3 games of cribbage (Mike won one game which was a skunk and I won 2 games one was a skunk). We had dinner at the marina restaurant were we had a beautiful view of the marina and Lake Michigan. We both had perch which was excellent. The winds have been increasing all afternoon.  We can see the waves hitting the seawall shooting up approximately 10 feet in the air. The waves are 4-6 feet, hence the reason that we left Port Washington for Racine yesterday. Now it is time for blogging, guitar playing and reading.
Happy Birthday Tony!

This marina store has everything from souvenirs, food, clearing supplies and clothing.

Marten (there were two of them but they move so fast).

This was occurring already at 8:30 A.M.

This little dude just about got stepped on while we were walking.

There are very few statues of Mary Todd Lincoln. This is one located in Racine.

Just in case the boat gets to rocking to much from the wind we will have a very nice place to sit to get off the boat.

United States Post Office in Racine.

This was taken at 4:00 P.M. we can see the waves coming over the break wall from our boat in the marina.

On-site restaurant at the marina. Very good!

This is what is happening at 5:30 P.M. the winds are increasing to 20 miles per hour with gusts to 40 miles per hour.

This is why we left Port Washington early.
