Presque Isle State Harbor in Presque Isle, MI

Day #6: An update from last evening Mike won 2 games of cribbage. We were up at 7 A.M. reviewing the weather apps. The window at 10 A.M. this morning where the winds were suppose to decrease changed the winds are now staying up with gusts to 20 miles per hour. Mike and I both concluded that we were going to stay in Presque Isle today. We went for a walk to the New Presque Isle Light for a total  of 3.18 miles. Mike and I worked on a few little jobs. We walked over to the Old Presque Isle Light to check out the giftshop but didn't find anything to purchase. In the afternoon we headed to the flying bridge for cocktails. When the sun was out it was very hot but clouds moved in and the winds were shifting. Very quiet afternoon. At 5 P.M. Mike mentioned launching the dinghy to cool off. I mentioned to Mike an e-mail that we had received from Jarrod our boater friend from Bay Harbor. Jarrod had e-mailed us about a shipwreck close to our location. Mike and I loaded up the dinghy and headed out. We found the buoy that Jarrod had mentioned without any issues. What an awesome find. The dinghy was in 6 feet of water with no issues seeing the wreck. Not only did we find the wreck but we enjoyed the cool breeze. Mike did some research finding the wreck is the "ALBANY" 202 feet long and sank November 26, 1853. Reviewing the weather we determined that it is looking good for a crossing on Tuesday to Rogers City with possibly a crossing to Mackinaw City on Wednesday for "Parrot Bay".

Bell at the Old Presque Isle light. You can hear this bell ringing at the marina and cove. The Bronze Bell was taken from the old Lansing City Hall clock tower when the building was torn down in 1959...It weighs 3,425 60 % heavier than the Liberty bell... It was cast in 1896.

Picture of the break wall that you can walk to view the marina and cove.

Headed back from the Old Presque Isle Light you can head to the break wall to see the marina and cove.

We saw this turtle headed into the water on our way back from the Old Presque Isle Light.

Patty had a hitchhiker on her hat during Happy Hour.

The buoy over the shipwreck with 2 terns.

"ALBANY"

Fish were swimming all over the wreck.

Thanks Jarrod for letting us know about this great find!

Beautiful sunset!

Our last night in Presque Isle.
