Anchorage “The Stairs and Maskinonge” to Anchorage in the
Bustards
“Parrot Bay” has traveled over 5,000 miles for the trip
today.
Day #399: From last evening I beat Mike at cribbage.
Heavy rain started at 4:30 A.M. that came in waves. The two of us were up at
6:00 A.M. to prepare for departure. At 7:00 A.M. there was heavy rain so
departure was delayed. At 7:15 A.M. the rain had stopped “Alysana” released
from “Parrot Bay” then pulled up their anchor. Mike pulled up the stern anchor
first followed by the bow anchor without any issues. At 8:15 A.M. “Parrot Bay”
and “Alysana” at buoy AA2 with 1 ½ ft. swells. Gina called Robin McKeown at Queen’s
Cove Marina for clarification regarding todays route decided to alter route to
the east. At 11:15 A.M. “Parrot Bay” and “Alysana” at buoy DK starting approach
for the Bustards. Lots of boats in the anchorage but lots of room. Great to see
looper boats “INNTW”, “The Lower Place”, “Heartbeat” and “Stay Strong”. “Parrot
Bay” with “Alysana” rafted secure at 12:30 P.M. in the Bustards after traveling
40 miles (5,025.3 miles total for the trip) with “Parrot Bay” having bow and
stern anchor out. After lumch Mike
and I took the dinghy to explore the Bustard Island. There were multiple
reports from INNTW about spotting bears, some on shore and some swimming. Mike
was able to collect a few more blueberries today but no bears. Mike and I saw two more looper boats “Tiki Queen” and “Apre’s Sail”. When Mike and I returned to the boat “Honey Badger” was anchored in the same anchorage as
“Parrot Bay” and “Alysana”. At 4:30 P.M. it was time for happy hour with Gina
and John. After happy hour John and Gina made breakfast for dinner. The four of us had oatmeal, eggs, peameal bacon, toast and fruit salad. After dinner the four of us headed up to “Alysana’s” flying bridge to enjoy the beautiful evening. I headed back to “Parrot Bay” while Mike stayed on “Alysana” to visit with
Heather and Kent from “Heartbeat”. Mike returned to the boat at 8:00 P.M. in
time for a Jimmy Buffet concert and relaxation.
