Spring Cove Marina on Solomon's Island, Maryland

Day #337: Mike and I were up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit, cookies and lemon bread. Not much for local TV stations here in Solomon's Island. The two of us reviewed the NOAA weather reports for the Chesapeake Bay it looks like there is a small window to travel on Thursday. Mike worked on a few boat jobs checking the coolant and fixing the dinghy davits. I called Yacht Basin, Co. in Annapolis, MD making reservations for Thursday and Friday. I worked on printing overhead views of the marina from Annapolis, NC to Delaware City, DE. No further reservations were made as the winds are very unpredictable at this time. Mike worked on charts and navigation. The sun had been out but clouded up mid-morning as there is rain/thunderstorms moving in this afternoon the temperatures are suppose to be in the high 80's with more humidity. At 9:45 A.M. Mike and I walked to the Calvert Marine Museum that had been suggested that we check out. The museum had an exhibition hall; otters and the marsh walk; boat basin and small craft sheds; Drum Point Lighthouse; oyster boat Wm B. Tennison; woodcarving shop and J. C. Lore Oyster House. The two of us especially liked touring the Drum Point Lighthouse. At 12:00 P.M. Mike and I headed back to the marina where we checked out the gift shop. After lunch the two of us headed to the pool.  It was warm outside but it had clouded up so Mike and I read books. The pool had a large bar area where beer, liquor and sodas could be purchased. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 2:30 P.M. and the skies darkened so Mike and I headed to the back to the boat.  After a small amount of rain the two of us headed up to the flying bridge for happy hour. After happy hour we headed down in the cabin for blogging and navigation planning. I made sloppy joes for dinner onboard the boat. The two of us are planning to leave for Annapolis, MD in the morning.

Wiley had told me that this was a very cool museum.

Mike and I were both surprised at the size of the museum.

A hand of tobacco is a bundle of approximately 30 leaves of similar quality and size tied                         together at the stems. Farmers pressed as many hands  of tobacco as possible into their                                                                                hogsheads.
