Morningstar Golden Isle at St. Simons Island, Georgia to Sunbury Crab Co., Midway, Georgia

Day #296: From last evening I beat Mike at cribbage. The two of us were up at 5:30 A.M. to prepare for departure. Engines were on at 6:25 A.M. we were underway at 6:40 A.M. The first part of the day it was the salt marshes of Georgia. At 8:40 A.M. the tug/barge "Sun Chief" came around a corner he radioed  "stay out of my way hug the green markers" which Mike did, not that Mike wanted to be in his way anyhow. At 9:00 A.M there was shoaling and the low water alarm went off.  Mike slowed the boat and the water depths increased. At 9:30 A.M. there was shoaling again, the low water alarm went off again and Mike slowed the boat until the water depth increased. At 10:20 A.M. we were in Doboy Sound were we were able to see another lighthouse. The two of us had a great day of seeing lots of eagles and dolphins. I have been watching the weather for Friday the winds are to increase with thunderstorms. When I called Sunbury Crab Co. to let them know that "Parrot Bay" was one hour out from the marina, I talked to Elaine (the owner of the marina and restaurant) to see about adding an additional evening. Elaine was so excited that we would be there on Friday night for music. At 1:30 P.M. "Parrot Bay" traveled off of the Intercoastal Waterway heading up to Medway River. At 2:25 P.M. "Parrot Bay" was secure at Sunbury Crab Co. with the help of Kenny from the marina after traveling 66.4 miles (2,092.3 total for the trip) Kenny mentioned that "Odyssey" was coming in on only one engine so we offered to help to get the boat to the dock. Bud from "Odyssey" did a great job bring the boat into the dock on one engine. Mike and I helped "Myra-Marie" to the dock followed by "Laurie Jean". Reservations were made by Mike and I for dinner for a group of eight at the on-site restaurant for 5:00 P.M. Bud, Sue, Laurie, Kevin, Laurie, Peter, Mike and myself headed to dinner. Our group had a great meal with lots of laughs. Elaine came to the table a few times to talk to the group. Plans were made for dinner for Friday night along with the group staying for the music at 8:00 P.M. Mike had blue crab for the first time and I had tile fish which was great. The group headed back to their boats. It was time for blogging and reading.
