City of Fort Myers Yacht Basin in Fort Myers, Florida

Day #273: From last evening Mike beat me at cribbage. The two of us were up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, grapefruit, cookies and mini lemon poppy seed muffins. After extending our stay here at the City of Fort Myers Yacht Basin for two more days, We took a walk to The Marina at Edison Ford to check out the menu at Pinchers, the onsite marina restaurant. While we were out we ran into Mike S. from "Dash Away" for a brief time. Mike and I then headed back to the city marina. After a few boat jobs and paperwork at 11:10 A.M. we decided to head to Pinchers for lunch. The two of us walked to the restaurant taking a umbrella as there was rain predicated. We were able to sit overlooking The Marina at Edison Ford and the Caloosahatchee River. Mike had snow crab claws and I had coconut shrimp. Both meals were excellent. The two of us then headed back to the "Parrot Bay" at 1:10 P.M. We decided to relax up on the lying bridge for the afternoon. For the most part it was partly sunny with only sprinkles with temperatures in the low 80's. At 4:00 P.M. we started talking about the end of the week and trying to get across Lake Okeechobee. After looking at the app SailFlow, we ended up in the cabin of the "Parrot Bay" calling marinas. At this time it is looking like departure would occur on Thursday, April 4th heading to Moore Haven, FL to a marina called River House Marina where a reservation has been made on the website Dockwa and confirmed. The plan is to cross Lake Okeechobee on Friday, April 5th stopping at Indiantown Marina (I left a message so we need to make sure that this is going to work). If all goes well the plan is for "Parrot Bay" to move to Fort Pierce on Saturday, April 6th for two nights (waiting for a reservation confirmation on Dockwa)

Along the river walk in Fort Myers is Centennial Park.

"Uncommon Friends Edison, Ford and Firestone fathers of the American Industrial 20th century".

The fountain includes a 40-foot diameter pool with a 20-foot island. On the island are the over life size figures of Edison, For and Firestone in a camping scene. In the water around the island are life size figures of alligators (mother and 5 babies), a mother manatee and her baby, 16 fish, 4 floating lily pad groups that are also on piped as fountain heads. 12 Frogs and fountain heads are on 6 small island around the campers.

On of the lily pads in the fountain.

There are 23 statues part of the Allure Art exhibit by artists Edgardo Carmona. " Utopia depicts a boy fishing from a bucket. This piece creates a message around the theory of self-realization."

"Sintonia captures a moment where time sits still and nothing else matters as the subject, sitting in his rocking chair, listens to the news on the radio while reading a favorite book. The art work depicts the nostalgia of passing time."

"Brisas-wind is the main character in this piece. The sculpture gives the impression of movement."

"Capt. JP" a paddle wheel cruise ship here in Fort Myers.
Mike and I tried a new place for lunch today.

Here I am enjoying a strawberry daquiri while looking out on The Marina at Edison Ford and Caloosahatchee River.

The Marina at Edison Ford just happens that the two boats in the picture are both flying white looper flags.

Stone Crab claws, dinner for Mike.

The stone crab are only available until May 19th.

My coconut shrimp dinner.

One more picture of the stone crab.

Cool display of the seafood at Pinchers.
