Homeport Marina, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Day #132: Up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, cinnamon roll, grapefruit and mini blueberry muffins. Great to have local news on the television to be able to watch the weather. We have Flash Flood Watches and Tornado Watches for Gulf Shores.  We have had rain but no severe weather. Mike sat down with multiple sources stitching plans together to get us from Gulf Shores, AL to Carrabelle, Florida. I made bean soup in the crockpot. Mike worked on a few boat jobs such as filling the water tank and putting the steering wheel back on the lower navigation station in preparation for our night crossing. The hope is the night that we cross the Gulf that the weather will allow us to drive from the flying bridge but if the waves are uncomfortable that we could drive the boat from the cabin. We have had rain on and off but the storms went around us but the National Weather Service did extend the Tornado Watch until 7:00 P.M. Karen from "Island Girl" texting me regarding their plans to move across the panhandle of Florida and crossing the Gulf to Clearwater. Mike reviewed their plans liking what he was seeing in their planning. Bruce and Bev came over to discuss our next plans for the trip. All four of us are willing to move with "Island Girl" starting on Wednesday. I called the next three marinas that we are thinking about staying before we cross the Gulf. I had to leave messages and sent e-mails with no responses. Bruce and Bev went back to "Bay Tripper" for a bit before returning to "Parrot Bay" for dinner. We had a great meal of bean soup and cornbread. At 8:00 P.M. Bruce and Bev headed out into the rain as it is now steady and getting cooler outside. Mike and I cleaned up followed by family phone calls and blogging. Time for some reading and relaxation.

Homemade bean soup in the crockpot.

Mike replaced the steering wheel on the lower navigation station. We are thinking that if the waves are a bit rocky that we might drive the boat from the lower helm.
