Dog River Marina, Mobile, Alabama:
Day #130: Up at 6:00 A.M. for coffee, cookies and peach. Sunny, 42 degrees and north winds sustained winds in the mid-teens with gusts mid-twenties. IT'S COLD! Something new that we are learning about now that we are in Mobile Bay is tidal waters. Today we are being very cautions as the water is being pushed out of Dog River into Mobile Bay with the north winds and low tide is at 10:00 A.M. Some boats are already sitting on the bottom. At 8:30 Bruce from "Bay Tripper" helped Mike and I work on the reverse for the starboard engine. After about 1/2 hour Bruce and Mike believe that we have fixed the issue (YEAH!). While we were working on the engine I turned on the Garmin at that time we were in 4.8 feet of water with low tide still occur. Yesterday when we arrived the dock was even with the boat but today I'm having to crawl up on the dock to get off the boat. At 10:12 A.M. Bruce, Bev, Mike and I took the courtesy van to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park where we toured the "USS Alabama" and "USS Drum" (submarine). We had lunch at the Battleship Memorial Park. At 1:00 P.M. we headed to Piggly Wiggly to get some groceries. We headed back to the boats at 2:00 P.M. Mike and I watched Michigan versus Rutgers. Mike and I started looking at the weather and winds and we decided that we probably should leave tomorrow. I called Bev asking if Mike and I could come over after the game to talk about the possibility of leaving tomorrow. I called Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores, AL where I was able to make reservations for "Parrot Bay" and "Bay Tripper". At halftime of the game, Mike and I headed over to talk to Bruce and Bev we decided to leave tomorrow. Mike and I headed back to our boat to finish watching the football game before getting the boat ready for departure. Michigan won 42-7.
