Columbus Marina in Columbus, Mississippi

Day #121: Periodic wind and rain during the night. At 5:40 A.M. the Emergency Response System sounded on our phones (needless to say both Mike and I were out of bed promptly) for a tornado warning. It was raining hard, no wind and no thunder/lightening. We never did get a storm just heavy rain. In some of the counties there were some downed tree limbs and power outages but here in downtown Columbus, MS all was just fine. We had coffee, pumpkin bread/mini cinnamon rolls and grapefruit. Mike working on paperwork and scheduling a captain's meeting for those boats leaving tomorrow morning and we are preparing for Friday morning departure while we wait for the rain to stop falling. It's November 1st this is the date that most insurance companies say that boaters must wait before they can be below the 32nd parallel (Demopolis, AL) due hurricanes. At this time there are no Atlantic Hurricanes developing so we are good.  What this means is that boats will be heading south. I called Demopolis Yacht Basin to update our date of arrival (this is the marina that doesn't take reservations) it is sounding like there will be availability for "Bay Tripper" and "Parrot Bay". When the rain let up we put on our galoshes' heading to the showers as there was standing water. Mike and I did some research on marinas in the Florida panhandle. At 4:00 P.M. the clouds broke so Bruce, Bev, Ken, Karen, Mike and I sat on the dock enjoying getting to know each other. At 5:00 P.M. we headed up to the marina meeting area for a planning meeting that Mike scheduled to talk about who is leaving Columbus Marina in the morning. The planning meeting was also docktails. There will be about five boats leaving early morning depending on the status of the Stennis Lock. There will be a group leaving later in the morning as they are not planning on traveling as many miles tomorrow. After the meeting Bruce, Bev, Mike and I had dinner aboard "Parrot Bay". We had taco soup along with homemade apple crisp that was made by Bev. Mike and I cleaned up after dinner followed by final preparations for the trip tomorrow.
