Illinois Valley Yacht Club in Peoria Heights, IL to Tall Timbers Marina in Havana, IL

Day #72: From last evening Mike and I played one game of cribbage, Mike won the game.  Up at 5:00 A.M. we prepared the boat for departure. At 6:20 A.M. Mike called the Peoria Lock and Dam they told him that we could go ahead and depart that they would get us into the lock when we arrived. We were underway at 6:25 A.M. with "Baytripper". At 7:35 A.M. we were holding station at the Peoria Lock waiting for "Crossroads" and "Felix". At 7:55 A.M we were secure in the Peoria Lock (Lock #7). This was the first lock that we were handed lines to secure the boat. At 8:20 A.M. we were clear of the Peoria Lock.  We were lowered 11 feet. At 12:30 P.M. were secured at Tall Timbers Marina. We traveled 48 miles today (838 miles total for the trip). At 1:30 P.M. Bruce, Bev, Mike and I headed uptown to Babes for lunch. We had a great meal. After lunch we wanted to go to get a few groceries so we headed to the Country Market that was 1.5 miles away. It was sunny and hot outside but we made it to the grocery store. After grocery shopping on our way back Bruce thought that it would be a good idea to stop for ice cream. Bob the harbormaster had suggested Grandpa's so we stopped and had ice cream on our way back. The ice cream was awesome and we all were happy to take a break from the heat. We headed back to the marina. We had happy hour on the dock with "Baytripper", "Felix", and "Bucket List". Bob the harbormaster joined us he is a very nice man. Bob is the owner of the marina since 1991 when he dug out the pool. He is the owner, dock hand, fuel pumper and restaurant owner (bar tender, cook and chief bottle washer). The mosquitos got really bad this evening. We are planning on leaving in the morning we are hoping that when we get to the LaGrange Lock that the wickets will be down so that we do not have to lock through, we will be able to just travel over the dam. LaGrange Lock will be our last lock on the Illinois River.  We are planning on anchoring out with "Baytripper". I'm not sure how the cell service will be in the anchorage so if I'm not able to blog I will catch up on Saturday when we get to Grafton.
