Heritage Harbor Marina in Ottawa, IL
Day # 68: Exactly one year ago today Mike and I were sitting in Port Washington, WI watching Hurricane Irma go back to a Category 5 hurricane bearing down on Florida. We made a very difficult decision to turn around and head home. Today we are in Ottawa, IL making our way down the river system heading for Florida. There are three potential hurricanes at this time in the Atlantic. Florence is looking like she is going to hit the east coast. Isaac and Helene are brewing. Up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, nectarine and gingersnaps. We had planned to leave on Monday but the more Mike thought about it there is going to be a large group of loopers leaving Heritage Harbor so we decided to leave on Tuesday morning, We did multiple jobs on the boat in preparation for our next journey. "TxAu" and "Change of Pace" left this morning they got delayed at the next lock for a bit, Nancy and I were texting while they were waiting. Bev and Bruce from "Baytripper" stopped by our boat they are going to leave with us on Tuesday. I tried to make reservations at Illinois Valley Yacht Club I left two messages and used messenger. The harbormaster does not return until Tuesday morning. Nichol did send me a message on messenger they have us on the list for a reservation (at least we hope so) but we will not know officially until Tuesday when the harbormaster returns. We have been talking with Keith and Pam our dock mates here at the marina. They are planning to loop in a couple of years so we have been having fun looper conversations with them when we are on the dock. Mike and I got a courtesy car from the marina. We went to the IGA for a few provisions and Walmart for a couple of items. Mike was able to find his Bud Light 8 ounce mini beers. At 4:00 P.M. we went to the captain's talk with Jeremy the harbormaster just to listen a second time to make sure that we caught all of the information. We went to the Red Dog Grill with Bev and Bruce from "Baytripper" for dinner. We had a great time with our new friends. Mike and I were able to Facetime with my Mom and Dad. Time for blogging and reading.
