Straits State Harbor in Mackinaw City, MI

Day #9: Up at 7 A.M. we were going to go to the bakery but there was rain coming so we had coffee and banana bread instead. Unfortunately, it only sprinkled so we could have gone to the bakery,  maybe tomorrow. We did two large loads of laundry at the marina ($3.50 a load to wash and dry). Mike and I walked up to the hardware store. We showered and worked on boat jobs as it was lightly raining. After lunch we worked on a few more boat jobs followed by a walk of downtown Mackinaw City to browse some of the stores in town. A fishery that was closed last season when we were here is back open so Mike purchased some smoked fish. Than we went back to Shepler's Marine store for a few more boat items. Mike and I had cocktail hour up on the flying bridge while it continued to lightly rain. Amanda came to visit at 3:30 P.M. At 4:30 P.M. we headed to the Dixie Saloon Food & Spirits Restaurant just down from the marina. We were joined at the restaurant by Ollie and Patty (Mike's parents) we had a great meal. All five of us came back to the marina for a visit as Ollie and Patty are headed for a trip to Nova Scotia this weekend. Thanks to Patty Sr. for the smoked whitefish and cookies. After Ollie and Patty headed back to St. Ignace, Amanda, Mike and I went for a walk. Amanda headed home to Sault Ste. Maria, MI.

Obviously the dog decoys do not work as the geese just ignore them.

Last year this fish market was closed it just re-opened two weeks ago so Mike was able to get smoked whitefish.

One of Mike and Patty's favorite boat stores.

Thanks to Ollie, Patty and Amanda for joining us for dinner in Mackinaw City.

Patty, Mike's mom had a fish fly on her arm so Amanda go out her  magnifying glass and light so we could look at the fish fly.

"Get bugged about water quality".
