Day #15: Up at 6 A.M. Mike and I had coffee while we re-looked at the weather and waited to call Nikki at Irish Boat Shop. We decided that the weather looked good as the winds had decreased through the night that there would be some waves but that it should be a comfortable ride to Harbor Springs. I called Nikki at 6:50 A.M. and she stated that they would have a slip for us when we arrived and that we could stay until Monday without any problems. Mike and I were underway at 7:15 A.M. it was 54 degrees, sunny with one foot waves. At 7:55 A.M. the starboard tachometer quit. Mike found that it was a broken wire at the alternator. This is something that we will fix when we get to Harbor Springs. At 8:11 A.M. we passed St. Helena Island Light. At 9:00 A.M. we passed the "Herbert C. Jackson" who was headed east bound toward the Mackinaw Bridge. At 9:40 A.M. we passed Waugoshance Point. I called Northport Marina to see if we could make a reservation starting on Monday, July 23 for a week. I was told by Marcus that they do not take reservations for our boat length. Marcus told me that if we wanted to get into the marina that we would need to be at the marina between 10:30 A.M. and 11 A.M. on the day that we wanted to stay there as it is a first come first serve. Mike and I still need to decide on what marina we will move to on Monday. At 10:00 A.M. we passed White Shoal Light. At 10:20 A.M. we passed Gray's Reef Light. At 11:00 A.M. we passed "Ile Aux Galets" also know as Skillagallee Light. At 1:40 P.M. we passed Little Traverse Light. At 2:00 P.M. we were secure in slip #29 at Irish Boat Shop, Harbor Springs. We traveled a total of 53.9 miles today (total of 260 miles traveled since leaving Bay City). Mike and I were able to meet Nikki. She was very nice even offering that if we needed to go to the grocery store that one of the staff would take us if needed. She told us that if the weather didn't let us get out on Monday that we could stay until Wednesday that she had placed a boater from Petoskey who will be participating in the Regatta and he would not be arriving until next Wednesday so there was no rush for us to leave if we wanted to stay a bit longer next week. Mike and I walked around the town. It is beautiful and there are flowers everywhere. Our boater friend Jarrod had told us about Tom's Mom's Cookies and that they are the best cookies that we needed to try them out. There was a line out the door when we went so we will return. Mike and I had happy hour on the flying bridge. Mike worked on some Condo business. We worked on the tachometer, Mike thinks that he can fix it so this will be a project for this week in Harbor Springs. We walked back to Tom's Mom's Cookies. This time we bought 12 cookies for $18.00. The bag is so heavy but they look and smell delicious. We can't wait until breakfast.
