Day #334: From last night Mike beat me at cribbage. The two of us were up at 4:45 A.M. to prepare for departure. The temperature was 64 degrees, a few clouds with little to no wind. The engines were started at 5:25 A.M. and "Parrot Bay" was underway at 5:30 A.M. At 5:40 A.M. "Parrot Bay" was at red #36 which is Mile Marker "0" which means that officially there is no longer an intercoastal waterway. "Parrot Bay" passed the Virginia Port Authority, the Norfolk International Terminals and Norfolk Naval Station. There were three aircraft carriers at the Naval Base Norfolk CVN-74 "USS John C. Stennis", CVN-75 "USS Harry S. Truman" and CVN-69 "USS Dwight D. Eisenhower". At 7:10 A.M. "Parrot Bay" passed Fort Wool to starboard, Fort Monroe to port and Old Comfort Point Light which placed us officially in the Chesapeake Bay. At 7:30 A.M. also outbound was the tug/barge "Ross Sea" and container ship "Cap Andreas". At 8:50 A.M. "Parrot Bay" was off the mouth of the York River with 2 foot seas. Cargo ships "Don Carlos" and "Virgo Colossus" passed to the east of us. At 11:45 A.M. "Parrot Bay" in the Rappahannock River. At 12:29 A.M. "Parrot Bay" was secure at Dozier's Regatta Point Yachting Center after traveling 58.4 miles today (3,797 miles total for the trip). At 1:30 P.M. I worked on laundry while the two of us swam in the marina pool all by ourselves. At 4:30 P.M. the two of us were back to the boat for happy hour on the flying bridge. After happy hour it was time for Mike and Patty to facetime Mom and Dad Burdo. Mike and I had dinner onboard the boat. It was time for blogging and Sunday night phone calls.
This is in the mooring field near the Tidewater Yacht Marina. Just the flying bridge showing from a sunken boat. |
