Marineland Marina in Marineland, FL

THE FIRST COAST

Day #288: From last evening Mike beat me at cribbage. The two of us were up at 6:30 A.M. for coffee, mini blueberry muffins, grapefruit and cookies. At 8:00 A.M. it was time for Mike and I to work on navigation planning, reservation confirmation and making reservations for next week. I was able to make reservations at Morningstar Golden Isle in St. Simone Island Georgia, Sunbury Crab Co., Midway, Georgia and Isle of Hope Marina, Savannah Georgia. Mike worked on the navigation to all of the marinas. Mike talked to St. Augustine Municipal Marina working out the fact that we will be arriving there on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. during the time when the current will be less and we will have a slip that will accommodate the dinghy as well so we will be protected with the weather that is looking very windy. Mike and I headed to Marineland Dolphin Adventure. We made it in plenty of time to catch the feeding of the sharks. The two of us watched the dolphin show followed by a tour through the aquarium and museum. Mike and I listened to a talk regarding sea turtles. The two of us headed back to the boat for lunch followed by library hour on the flying bridge. Debra and Gil (Chrysalis) invited Mike and I to have dinner with them and family for Debra's birthday at JT's Seafood Shack. At 5:00 P.M. Gil, Debra, Samantha, Alex, Mike and I took two Ubers to dinner. The group had a great dinner together. At 7:30 P.M. the group headed back to their boats for the evening. On the "Parrot Bay" it was time for reading and blogging.

Each shark has it's own fish with vitamins it is lowered into the tank via the long pole near where the shark is located in the tank.

"Submarine Hill has long been an important part of Florida history. During World War II, the US Coast Guard kept watch for German U-boats from this high vantage point. Today, the hill provides a scenic view that allows us to see and celebrate the Sunshine State's coastal wildlife."

Whitney Park is where the dolphin shows occur in the park.
