Pearl Bayou in Panama City, Florida to The Moorings in Carrabelle, Florida

Day #136: Up at 5:15 A.M. it was cold in the cabin. Clear and 38 degrees outside. At 6:00 A.M. we tested the the starboard engine shift cable.  It worked great. Both engines on at 6:15 A.M. Anchors up at 6:40 A.M., underway but our anchor was fouled with branches and the washed down up didn't work.  Anchor and chain were stowed all muddy.  We left with "Island Girl" and "Bay Tripper". Karen, Bev and I were texting trying to decide where to stay the evening. I called Apalachicola Marine as they had not returned my phone call they did not have room as they were full and not fully functioning due to Hurricane Michael. No return call from Scipio Marina in Panama City. Karen called The Moorings in Carrabelle she was told that they could get all three of our boats into the marina. At 10:00 A.M. we decided to keep going to Carrabelle (30 miles farther than we had planned for the day). At 10:30 A.M. we crossed back to Eastern Time Zone and we will remain there for the rest of the trip. We passed by Apalachicola at 1:50 P.M. Damage was evident from Hurricane Michael. At 4:30 P.M. we passed Dog Island,  this will be our jump off point for the overnight crossing tomorrow. At 5:20 P.M. we were secure at The Moorings after traveling 86 miles (2211 miles for the total trip). "Island Girl" and "Bay Tripper" both took on fuel. The Moorings told both "Island Girl" and "Bay Tripper" that they were working on slips as there were other boats that had showed up unannounced wanting slips so there were no slips to be had but they were working on making room. Both "Island Girl" and "Bay Tripper" were given slips so all boats secure. Mike and I started working on getting the boat ready for tomorrows overnight crossing. We went to Ken and Karen's boat as happy hour had started before Mike and I had arrived. Mike, Karen and Ken talked about plans for tomorrow nights crossing but it was decided that additional planning would occur on Saturday. Ken, Karen, Wayne, Bruce, Bev, Mike and I all walked to a local restaurant "Fisherman's Wife" were we had a great meal. At 9:00 P.M. we walked back to the boats. Time for blogging and trip planning for tomorrow. Glad to be hooked up to power to be able to run the larger heater. No alarm in the morning as we are going to sleep in before getting ready for our overnight crossing once Eddy's Weather Wag gives us the ok to go.
Beautiful sunrise over Pearl Bayou in Panama City.

Bruce refused to put on long pants he is always in his shorts even when the temperatures is 38 degrees.

Leaving Pearl Bayou the destruction from Hurricane Michael is evident.

Trees are snapped in half.

One of the hardest hit areas that was hit by the eye of Hurricane Michael was Port St. Joe Marina.

As we past the inlet to get to Port St. Joe's this was what we saw.

Some boats left in hurricane holes survived some didn't.

Amongst the destruction was a beautiful adult eagle.

St. George's Island Lighthouse.

This cool work boat was headed out of the Carrabelle channel as we were entering.

Carrabelle suffered damage as well from Hurricane Michael. This is a sunken sailboat.

Cool fishing boats on our way into Carrabelle.
